Woman Crush Wednesday: Penny Oleksiak
Standing next to a 6'1" Olympian could be intimidating, but when it's 17-year-old Penny Oleksiak the vibe is humble, friendly, and (prepare for cheese) a gold medal experience.
Before jetting off for the FINA World Championships in Budapest, Oleksiak announced her first brand partnership with ASICS Canada in early July. I had a chance to chat with the four-time gold medalist and the full story will be published on the Toronto SUN.
I was in awe of how young she is, all the success she's achieved, the adoration of a country who watched her at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio, and yet she remains a young woman from the Six who loves hip hop, a good pair of sneakers, Timbits and cruising the city with her friends.
Why did she choose ASICS as her first brand partnership? Their links to hip hop artists, and their mantra of sound mind, sound body. Oleksiak says she's definitely of the athleisure style, rocking leggings, t's, and of course, sneakers on the regular. You can catch her at all the music festivals this summer, including OVO Fest and Veld - just don't step on her kicks.
